We use the internet daily for broad dissemination of information.  This takes three forms:

(1) Distributing links to important articles appearing on other websites to lists of people who in turn have additional lists, like pebbles cast in ever-widening circles within ever-expanding ponds.  This is not simply "preaching to the choir," but arming the choir to advocate more effectively from a solid knowledge base to their own communities and social networks.

(2) Participating in blogs that address the Israel/Palestine conflict.  Recognizing the internet as the new battleground threatening Israel's self-proclaimed "legitimacy," Israel employs a workforce of paid propagandists to inject standard hasbara (the Israeli party line on every issue, developed and standardized by the Reut Institute) into these international fora.  These need to be met and discredited with verifiable facts. The Huffington Post, for example, regularly publishes writings on Israel/Palestine that provide such opportunities.

(3) Developing our own responses to current events and disseminating these for use by other organizations and individuals nationwide.  We use letters to media and belong to several Palestine solidarity organizations and networks, including the Veterans for Peace working group on Palestine of which one of our co-directors is national vice chair.

These are linked below by date and subject matter.

July 5, 2011.  This letter regarding US support of Israel's declared and demonstrated intention to violate US citizens' rights on the Gaza-bound flotilla was sent to our local newspaper, the second largest in Oregon with a hard-copy readership of approximately 100,000 in addition to its online edition.

July 3, 2011.  The Audacity of Hope left port from Piraeus and was intercepted and turned back by the Greek Coast Guard. The captain was arrested for debarking without permission.  This letter was sent to the US Ambassador in Athens, emphasizing legal obligations that we, as US citizens, have standing to address.

July 2, 2011.  US Boat to Gaza, The Audacity of Hope, detained from debarkation by Greece.  This brief letter was sent to the Greek embassy in Washington appealing to Greek national self-image.  Knowing they were receiving many other messages, it was kept succinct to maximize chances of its being read.
